Questions and answers

Doesn´t a concave platform surface provide even a better foot support?

we experimented with some shapes also a concave one. Most of the soles wouldn´t give a better feeling with a concave pedal shape while riding. Most soles are to rigid to allow a natural foot position. With a nike free or similar shoe it is different and a concave shape would make more sense. We decided for a flat one, because we really got better feedback with this shape. But let´s see, maybe this will be something for the future if there are enough people riding with adequate shoes.

Can I order the pedal set with a silver axle rather than the black axle?

For technical reasons we only offer our pedals with a black spindle. The spindles are optimized to work best with the bushings, that´s why they now have a special black coating.

Doesn´t grip tape wear off very fast?

We were surprised how long it lasts. After about half a year in daily, continuous sporting use the grip was worn down by about 20%. If you always need the maximum grip, you can change it, then it's like new. For a daily routine rider, the grip tape lasts longer and the left grip is more than adequately for this purpose. If you want to renew your pedal, you can get a complete set of grip tape pads for 7,50 Euros from us. The Installation is very simple and takes about 5 minutes.

Is the MOTO Pedal waterproof?

The grip tape is waterproof. The wooden pedals are waterproof glued and sealed. Rain rides are no problem, you can move freely in wet weather conditions and enjoy the grip benefits compared to conventional pedals. The pedal is a MOTO Performance Part. These parts are the best parts that are available on the market in terms of performance, weight and dimensions. Such parts are usually maintenance intensive. Unlike our pedal. It is virtually maintenance free. However, you should pay attention to not leave it outside for a whole  winter season or permanently store in wet conditions. Just the way how to deal with such a high quality product in general.

Is wood durable enough for a pedal?

Here we can clearly answer yes. If you look at this subject, skateboards are exposed to far higher loads than our pedal. Nevertheless, they are still made of wood, because there is no other material that would be more suitable. [The multiple lamination and a special surface treatment makes the MOTO Pedal ideal for everyday use.]

Our patented design ensures that the MOTO Pedal has no disadvantages in terms of stability compared to a conventional pedal. Signs of use depending on usage are normal as well as conventional pedals, and if needed the wooden frame is also replaceable.

Maintenance and care

Our product is virtually maintenance-free and is built to last. Should there be any issues however, the pedals can be refreshed. This is done in a few simple steps and takes less than 5 minutes. To allow servicing if required, the griptape pads are designed to be reused several times-according to the state of their wearout.

1. Remove griptape
Heat griptape with a hair dryer for a few seconds and remove it carefully.

2. Seperate half-shells
Use the Allen key 3mm, included in the package to unscrew the half-shells.

3. Grease pedal shaft
Clean and grease pedal shaft sufficiently. We recommend lubricating the slide bearings with BERULUB FR 16 or equivalent lightweight, silicone-free, synthetic special grease with PTFE additives.

4. Tighten half-shells
Make sure the O-ring is fitted into the designated grooves of the half-shells to prevent damage. Tighten the screws of the plastic half-shells with a torque of 120-150 Ncm. You can use the Allen key, included in the package.

5. Apply griptape
Stick on new or used griptape.

Slight clicking:
If the pedals develop a slight clicking sound after intensive use, this indicates that the bearings should be retightened. Please proceed as described in maintenance.

Is it possible to have my individual design or logo on the griptape?
