Barefoot blogger Eva: "I can no longer imagine riding barefoot without MOTO pedals"

Eva is a full-time barefoot rider and enthusiastic motorcycle rider. She lives in Allgäu and runs the "Barfuss Blog" (Barefoot Blog). We talked to her about cycling and asked her why her Moto Reflex Pedals are her first choice as barefoot pedals.

When did you get your first bike? And from whom?

That was Christmas 1972, a brand new, orange folding bike. My parents gave it to me so I could visit my friends more easily. They were less proud when it soon had an unfortunate encounter with a motorcycle hood. The hedge saved me, but the bike was out of commission for a while.

What do you use your bike or bikes for?

Today I ride two bikes. My Bergamont keeps me physically fit and slows me down from working on the PC. I also like to hop on it early in the morning or after work and take a ride over the alpine or around the lake. Especially the tours into the mountains are something special. I use the E-bike (Haibike) for shopping or for extensive, relaxed tours through the beautiful Allgäu landscape. A day tour feels like a short vacation.

Where does your bike stand at night?

Most of the time, the bikes are in a heated room next to the garage. For maintenance or repairs can also take the bikes into the living room or onto the balcony, depending on the weather. I really don't like cleaning my bike in the cold with numb fingers and a running nose. I'd rather do it comfortably indoors. With classical music and a pot of tea :-)

What do you do when you're not cycling?

I go hiking in the mountains, take care of my pony, or work in the garden. In 2015, I founded the WBar, and three years ago, the Barefoot Shirt was added. Both projects are very close to my heart.

Barefoot blogger with mountain bike and Moto pedals

What problem did you have before you discovered our pedals?

When I started barefoot running in 2015, I naturally wanted to ride my bikes barefoot as well. The mounted pedals were absolutely unsuitable for me as barefoot pedals (especially the metal spikes on the MTB), so I started researching.

Which pedals were you riding before the MOTO pedals?

In the first years, I initially rode the Ergon PC2. The principle was already going in the right direction. But I couldn't manage more than 80 km tours, then the soles of my feet were so irritated that I couldn't ride for several days. So the search for a 'real' flat pedal continued.

What was your first impression of the MOTOs as barefoot pedals?

I discovered the Moto pedals through my partner, who has been happily riding his Moto Urban Classic for many years. I was immediately thrilled because this basically simple flat pedal was exactly what I was looking for and what my feet needed. I now ride the Moto Urban Reflex on both my MTB and E-bike.

What is special: what do you see as the difference from conventional pedals?

The biggest difference from conventional pedals lies in the pedal surface itself, which is really simple and functional - without transitions, sharp edges, or any other disturbing elements. The rough material of the griptapes is absolutely non-slip and offers me maximum safety, even with wet or muddy feet.

What has changed, how do Moto pedals help you while riding?

With the Motos, I can ride unlimited kilometers, my feet feel good and relaxed. It's more my behind that complains, which then demands a break ;-) I can't imagine cycling without Motos anymore. By the way, we have already excited many of our readers about the Motos!
